Sleeping on a covered porch, curled deep within a warm cozy sleeping bag, hiding from the freezing air, when first light manages to catch my attention. Staying as covered as possible, I look out over the tree lined eastern ridge across the river and watch as ever so slowly the sun creeps into view. Sky all pale pinks and oranges fading to blue as stars disappear. At the end of a long, hard, physically demanding day, I sat in a camp chair up a hill in the woods and watched the sun ever so slowly slip down below the western tree lined ridge. Sky all pale yellows and golds fading to dark purple as stars wink into sight. I feel completely at peace. Here is serenity.
